DESCRIPTION

Take Part in a Creative Experience - Paris

During this workshop, you’ll discover the technical and cultural foundations of Boro before applying one of three proposed techniques to your own Miki or other Béton Ciré hat.

Between textile repair and intuitive creation, Béton Ciré and Tom invite you to explore Japanese "Boro" through a slow, free, and sensitive approach to clothing. Through visible stitching, layered fabrics, and hand-sewn repairs, you’ll learn how to repair, reinforce, and transform a piece while giving it a new story.

Throughout the workshop, we’ll guide you through this craft using different stitching and assembly techniques.

Each participant will be able to freely create their own textile composition using a curated selection of fabrics in blue, black, and cream tones, thoughtfully chosen to naturally connect with the Béton Ciré universe.

Every finished piece will be unique, shaped by the selected fabrics, visible stitching, and the gestures of each participant.

During the Workshop, Participants Will:

  • Discover the history and world of Japanese Boro
  • Learn visible mending and textile reinforcement techniques
  • Create a textile application on a Miki or Béton Ciré hat

  • Create a one-of-a-kind piece using a curated selection of fabrics

SIZE

The sizes are unisexe and correspond to your head measurement, in centimeters.

The head circumference is measured at the largest side of the head. If you do not have a measuring tape to help you know the size of your head, you can use a ribbon or a string to go around it. Then, you can simply transfer the corresponding length to a ruler.

If the measurement obtained is between two sizes, we recommend you to choose the larger size.

The Miki docker beanies, for example, are all adjustable thanks to their leather strap
(sometimes the strap is available in another material depending on the themes of the season).

> Size guide for Miki docker beanies and caps :

Head size in centimeters from 56 to 59 cm from 60 to 63 cm
Hat size S/M L/XL

> Size guide for other shapes : bucket hats, rain Chalutier or sou’wester hats and berets' recommendations are all indicated in the description of each product for more precision

> Size guide for woolen beanies : The wool beanies are all available in one size only

CARE

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL OUR FABRIC HATS :

We highly recommend a dry cleaning for all of our hats that contain leather or for hats made with very fragile fabrics such as: Wool, Merinos, Straw, Linen or Felt.

However, our team and our clients have machine washed without any problem. Don't forget that leather is not supposed to be machine washed and will probably change aspect in contact of water.

If you decide to machine wash our hats do not put them in the dryer!!! Once out of the machine, place them on a round form so that the fabric keeps its round shape.

Use a sticky roller brush to remove dust.
